It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🎶

Here in Cagliari/Sardinia, like in many other places, it is definitely starting to look a lot like Christmas. 🎄🎅🦌.

The Italian Panettone take up a lot of space in the shops….

... and in the streets are lovely Christmas lights and Christmas markets. You just can't help but getting into the Christmas spirit.

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for being part of our adventures and of course to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas.

Summary of our first 10 months on the boat in 2021.

Visit to Botanical Garden and Roman Amphitheatre of Cagliari

After a walk through the Botanical garden we went to the Amphitheatre. Both places are in the city and a short walk away from the Marina.

The Amphitheatre of Cagliari housed fights between men and animals, of gladiators and other specialised fighters recruited in and outside Sardinia. It was also the seat of public executions. It could house up to 8,000 spectators. It was no longer in use starting from the 5th century AD and was subsequently used as a free stone quarry by the rulers of the area. It is currently under renovation.

Visit to the Royal Palace

The Palazzo Regio, also known as Viceregio, is a historic building in Cagliari, the ancient residence of the representative of the king of Sardinia during the Aragonese, Spanish and Savoy domination and now the seat of the Metropolitan City of Cagliari. It is located in the historical Castello district (a 10 Minute walk from our boat)

And some other impressions of Cagliari. On the left you can see the street which leads to a small Thai restaurant we like. In the middle a photo of street cats which are given food in certain places. The Cagliari Cathedral on the right.

Sardinia is a windy island, especially from October to April, because of the Maestrale, the northwest wind, which blows from France (where it is called Mistral). There also is the Ponente, which blows from the west. We seem to be well protected in the Marina.

Below a picture from our Windy app from last week.

We had a good weather window this week and decided to spend a night on anchor. We sailed to "Spiaggia di Furcadizzu" which is about 15 nm from Cagliari.

The sunrise in the morning was sensational.

Click on the short video below to see the sunrise and hear the waves at our anchor spot:-)

Sven decided to watch the sunrise from our bed (picture on the left). On the right the view from the shower.

A light morning snack on the water.

Sven felt that our boat needed some greenery and organised below. We are still hunting for a dill or coriander plant to add to our mint, basil and parsley. This picture was taken at our anchor place near the beach.

Entering back into the Marina.

This is our Marina place at night. You can see our boat (with the deck light on).

We tried to take pictures of the changing colours of the Ferris Wheel...but they all seem to look similar...

Greenpeace has also docked here for a few days. The boat on the left is interesting, they don't seem to have any immediate plans to leave their berth.

We took this photo in a coffee shop to show you a real Italian hot chocolate. It is nearly like a pudding and delicious on a cold winter day!

Whilst we are on the topic of sugary things...

Those of you who speak German will probably know Haribos marketing slogan "Haribo macht Kinder froh und Erwachsene ebenso".

In English it is: "Kids and grown-ups love it so – the happy world of Haribo".

But I do have the proof that this really is the case... What to do with this child?

Sven stated that I would never post this video but did not care if I did. Feel free to comment 😊 Any potential for a Haribo Marketing campaign....?

Sven will be celebrating Christmas with his Family in Germany and Caroline with hers in Switzerland. We will then go back to Cagliari and celebrate New Year here in Cagliari.

We wish you happiness, health, warmth, and love. May the spirit of Christmas shine in your heart and light your path (hopefully nobody got onto Santa's naughty list this year).

Love the green and red matching ropes at the back of our Christmas hats)

Wishing you also a Happy NEW YEAR

More from us again in the New Year.
